  What a beautiful island! This hotel is just up from cylinder beach and offers some amazing views. The reception / front desk staff were absolutely lovely - Narkita booked us a room on a day's notice with a waterfront view. She even SMS'd us when our room was ready for an early check in! We came in winter and honestly didn't think to bring beach towels - but she provided us with some so we could go enjoy the amazing water. All in all, I would recommend a stay here and Narkita alone was part of our decision - absolutely lovely!
  
  Some potential tips that I'd consider if you're staying,
  
  - Bring ear plugs if you're staying close to the main building / restaurant / bistro area as the speaker does pump music out until quite late and then starts again fairly early. We were also unfortunately right next to the laundry room which was quite noisy between the staff loading / unloading it plus the noise of a washing machine. And it seems the crows echo like crazy in the main building - obviously not the fault of the hotel but just a heads up if you're not a heavy sleeper (I'm unfortunately not).
  
  - Bring an iPad if you watch tv before bed as the tv reception was pretty bad the night we stayed and unwatchable. Not a bad thing during the day but once the sun's gone down and you have not much else to do - the iPad saved us. Again, not really the fault of the hotel and I imagine that comes with island life - but if you watch telly before bed to wind down - the iPad with some movies definitely helps!
  
  - Grab a cocktail from the bar downstairs. Staff there were lovely and the cocktails were great.
  
  - When parking downstairs in the carpark in front of the bottle-o, don't park against the wall if you have the option as the birds of a nighttime nest in the vents above and ..... well, let's just say you'll need to clean your car.
  
  - If you're having a shower in the hotel, our room in particular and going by other reviews - chuck the hot water on a while before you get undressed as it does take a bit to heat up and in winter, it can be a cold wait! All good once it does turn hot though.
  
  Other than those few small things - this place is a win. Thanks for having us Straddie hotel. And thankyou to Narkita for being such an inviting, lovely receptionist!

  Located in a nice part of the island with good beach. Rooms are OK, roomy but dated, no minibar, no bottled water. Found a gecko in our bed which wasn't pleasant. Locals on the island are really friendly, but the hotel staff in reception and the bar are rude and pass very un-PC comments. Have to pay for Wi-Fi which then turns out to be slow and you can only use it in your room, not in bar/hotel. All in all expensive for the experience provided. Wouldn't stay here again.
